Inn Lockdown -lockdown story four

This is the fourth of my lockdown stories – one a week based on suggestions by the public until we are out of the other side of Covid 19. This one is based on an idea by Kahn Johnson who suggested a fantasy with a beleaguered former captain set in a tavern.

This one is called Inn Lockdown

I used it as a chance to do an episode from an idea I had for a high fantasy novel set in a world where the nature of magic is changing from a bespoke nature based system to a more industrial approach. I also stole a basic plot idea from the Seven Samurai. If stealing is good enough for Alfred Bester it’s good enough for me.

The tavern is also stolen from a lot of places – it’s a generic fantasy trope with nods to Poul Anderson’s Midsummer Tempest, Fritz Leiber’s Lankhmar stories and many more classics. The Innkeeper is the narrator of Spider Robinson’s Callaghan stories.

Remember, if you give me a genre, a main character and a location I will write a story around it which will be published in a book at the end of this with profits going to a local food bank.
